Cristiano Ronaldo has been backed by a former teammate to make a remarkable return to the Premier League.
Former Manchester United star Louis Saha believes that the Portuguese legend’s next move is unpredictable, suggesting that “perhaps a chairman wants to take a chance” on the ageing superstar.
Ronaldo’s first stint at United—from 2003 to 2009—saw him transform from a promising teenager into one of the world’s best players, winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League, and his first Ballon d’Or.
His return in 2021 was less triumphant, ending in hostile after his contract was terminated in November 2022.
Now 39 years old and playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo remains a prolific goal scorer. However, with his contract set to expire in 2025, speculation is rife about his next steps.
Saha: ‘Ronaldo Is Capable of Anything’
Speaking to Casino Utan Spelpaus, Saha expressed awe at Ronaldo’s drive and ambition, particularly his pursuit of an unprecedented 1,000 career goals.
“Ronaldo has eyes on the stuff that normal people don’t have. I would still think that whatever he’s got in his mind, he’s capable of doing it because he’s obsessed,” said Saha.
Saha also floated the idea of a Premier League return: “Perhaps a chairman wants to take a chance on him. There are still a lot of things that Ronaldo can do – he’s ageing like a fine wine.”

Which Clubs Could Sign Cristiano Ronaldo?
The most obvious destination would be a return to United under his friend Ruben Amorim, though this would likely depend on Ronaldo’s willingness to adapt to a supporting role.
Beyond the Premier League, Ronaldo has been linked with surprising options, including a potential move to Welsh club Wrexham, owned by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, although highly unlikely.
Although Ronaldo’s focus remains on his playing career, he has not ruled out transitioning into coaching.
However, despite the rumours, the expectation is that Ronaldo will extend his stay in the Saudi Pro League, where he has enjoyed great success and remains a marquee player.
The lucrative league provides a platform for him to continue his goal-scoring exploits and maintain his brand presence globally.
