Cristiano Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez has revealed the name of their baby daughter after they tragically lost the baby’s twin brother.
The couple decided to call their little girl, Bella Esmeralda, who was born on April 18.
At the time, they also announced the tragic news of their baby son's death.
The footballer and his partner had been expecting twins but sadly their son passed away.
Their daughter did arrive safely though and was recently able to return to Ronaldo's home with the rest of his family.
The Manchester United star took to Instagram earlier this month to share a snap of him cradling his daughter. The black and white picture shows a topless Ronaldo sitting on a sofa with his baby, with the post captioned: "Forever Love…" along with a heart and a prayer emoji.
The baby was able to return home with her family, with Ronaldo releasing a picture of her with his family. In posting that picture, Ronaldo also gave his thanks to the fans who had sent messages of support.
"Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us. We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family. Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world," he said.
Ronaldo and his family were flooded with message of support after he announced the sad passing of his baby son. Fans from Arsenal and Liverpool delivered applause at the seven-minute mark of their games against United as a way to show their support to the Portuguese superstar.
When he announced the death of his son, Ronaldo had insisted that the birth of his daughter was a message of hope. He also took the opportunity to thank the medical team who had helped deliver her and try to save his son.
“It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness," the statement said.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
