Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes issue Manchester United war cry as key duo ramp up for Liverpool clash

Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes took to social media to issue a ralllying call to their Manchester United team-mates as they head to Anfield on Tuesday evening to take on their great rivals, Liverpool.

The prospect of a top four finish appeared unlikely after missed opportunities against Leicester and Everton, but a hard-fought three points against Norwich assumed even greater value as both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal fell to shock defeats.

The task for United will be far from easy as Tuesday’s visit to their great rivals will be followed by a trip to North London to take on Arsenal.

Cristiano Ronaldo ’s hat-trick was instrumental in turning around a 2-0 deficit against Norwich and fans had been quick to voice their displeasure before he single-handedly changed the game.

Ronaldo posted on his Instagram account: “Very happy with this win and for getting us back on track in the Premier League. Like I've said before, individual achievements are only worth it when they help us reach our goals as a team.

"The 60th hat-trick in my career is so much more important because it brought us the three points. Well done, lads, tremendous effort from everyone. We're not giving up, we're fighting until the end."

Pictured in celebration with his teammates – Fernandes also messaged on Instagram: “Let’s keep pushing and believing until the end.”

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick was a relieved man after the game but confessed he was unhappy with how things had panned out.

He said: “With that kind of performance it will be almost impossible to get something out of the away game against Liverpool … We need to play better against the ball with more physicality, with more aggressiveness. This was the biggest issue and the biggest thing that I was not happy with.”
