The popular criticism of NBC color analyst Cris Collinsworth is that he talks way too much about Patrick Mahomes. And with the Kansas City Chiefs in primetime yet again Sunday night, fans were ready to pile on yet again. So Collinsworth and broadcast partner Mike Tirico took the chance to poke fun at themselves, leading to this hilarious exchange.
“You’ve done about 20 Patrick Mahomes games,” Tirico said. “For once, I’m not gonna ask you about Patrick Mahomes. I wanna know about the part of the Chiefs that’s got us all excited, their defense has been terrific.”
“There’ll be people excited I’m not gonna mention Patrick Mahomes,” Collinsworth said. “I’ve been reading my Twitter.”

Of course, Collinsworth couldn’t stop himself from showing Mahomes love. Just a few seconds later, he pointed out that Mahomes won Player of the Week honors last week.
“You can’t help yourself, can you?” quipped Tirico.
While some of his critics will never slow down, Collinsworth did win over a few fans with the self-aware exchange. After all, he’s far from the only person who loves watching the Chiefs star quarterback.
A self-aware Cris Collinsworth is the most dangerous Cris Collinsworth. https://t.co/yeyg0MOC31

Collinsworth is good. They’re going to replace him with Jason Garrett at some point which will be awful. Support Collinsworth https://t.co/esJvo8HuNS
