NFL analyst Cris Collinsworth is rarely short of wild stories to tell viewers on his Sunday Night Football telecasts.
In a special Thanksgiving game on NBC, Collinsworth shared one of his best stories yet.
Collinsworth and play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico were in Seattle for Thursday’s game between the 49ers and Seahawks, and Collinsworth discussed a trip he took to the iconic Pike Place fish market while he was in town for the game.
Collinsworth took a walk through the market, and thought it might be a good idea to bring some fish home for Thanksgiving with his family. He made one costly miscalculation in the process, though.
“I never buy fish,” Collinsworth began. “But you’re in the market and you say, ‘O.K., I’m going to buy myself some fish, and I’m gonna take it home for Thanksgiving.’ So I go in there, and I see the thing, and this big fish is there, and it says $35. I go, ‘Well, that’s pretty good! That’s about the same price as in a restaurant, right?’ … So I come out, and I go, ‘I’ll take two!’ … I thought 72 bucks. Eight hundred dollars! I was like, ‘per pound!’ … But you can’t go back once you’ve said you want two fish. They already have it all loaded up!”

It’s safe to say Collinsworth won’t ever make that mistake again.
The 49ers beat the Seahawks at Lumen Field, 31–13.
