Cringeworthy video shows Lauren Boebert embellishing her Ilhan Omar ‘story’ every time she tells it

Controversial Republican Lauren Boebert has been accused of embellishing her alleged encounter with Ilhan Omar after footage showed she altered the same story over a series of months.

Boebert has continued to claim she made anti-Muslim remarks to congresswoman Omar while in the Capitol building.

In various cringeworthy clips of her telling the same story, but slightly embellished each time, Boebert brags about allegedly calling Omar, who is Muslim, “jihad squad”.

A clip posted by Twitter account PatriotTakes has combined footage of three separate occasions in which Boebert has told the story, and reveals how each time the alleged incident is embellished.

In a tweet, they wrote: “The 6 month evolution of Lauren Boebert’s fabricated, anti-Muslim attack on Ilhan Omar.

“June: Boebert claimed she called Omar, “jihad squad,” at work.

“September: Boebert added the elevator and backpack elements.

“November: Boebert added a fretful Capitol police officer.”

Over a period of 6 months, she appeared to add extra details, such as a Capitol police officer being present and “fretful”.

Another time she also added a backpack comment that insensitively equated Muslims with backpacks to terrorism.

However, Omar has denied that Boebert’s version of events ever occurred at all.

In a tweet, Omar wrote: “Fact, this buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up. Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.

“Anti-Muslim bigotry isn’t funny & shouldn’t be normalized. Congress can’t be a place where hateful and dangerous Muslims tropes get no condemnation.”
