Criminal defence solicitors from a pair of Birmingham law firms have merged to form a new practice.
Jonas Roy Bloom and the criminal team from Glaisyers have joined forces, with the combined practice trading as Jonas Roy Bloom incorporating Glaisyers Crime.
Glaisyers' remaining teams will continue to trade separately as Glaisyers, specialising in complex family proceedings and private client work including wills, probate and conveyancing.
Jonas Roy Bloom's senior partner Steven Jonas said: "Lawyers from Jonas Grove, the predecessor to Jonas Roy Bloom, left to join Glaisyers in the 1970s.
"Both firms went on to enjoy superb reputations in the field of criminal defence, working alongside each other and developing close working relationships and referrals.
"For many years, Glaisyers and Jonas Roy Bloom have been the city's leading names in criminal law and it is a pleasure to be able to bring these two teams back under one roof to expand and improve our offering to our clients.
"With mergers in recent years with lawyers from Williamson & Soden Solicitors, BMV Solicitors and now Glaisyers, we are proud to remain Birmingham's most-established criminal law firm with a team of highly regarded specialists in both criminal and regulatory law. This latest merger continues our plans for growth and expansion."
Glaisyers' senior partner David Simon added: "Law firms are becoming increasingly specialised and for several years Glaisyers has focussed on growing its specialist family law and private client teams, working alongside its prison law experts.
"We felt the time was right to concentrate on these areas while ensuring that our strong criminal team could continue to flourish elsewhere. Jonas Roy Bloom seemed the natural fit for our team.
"We will continue to work together as separate firms to the mutual benefit of our clients."
