A bounty is said to have been placed on the heads of the masked thugs who rammed a car into the Glasgow home of feared underworld figure Steven "Bonzo" Daniel. Two brothers are believed to be behind the attack on the £340,000 villa, which is owned by Daniel's partner Avril Connell.
Tuesday night's carnage saw two balaclava-clad hoods career through the front garden of the Bishopbriggs property and ram a Mitsubishi into the porch, before fleeing the scene. The porch wall was partially caved in and the guttering was melted after catching fire.
We told on Wednesday how a female relative of Bonzo's was inside the property watching TV at the time the car ploughed into the house. She is understood to have been left shaken but escaped unharmed.
High-ranking members of the Daniel clan are understood to have now put up a four-figure sum for information on the whereabouts of the brothers.
A gangland source said: "The Daniels are absolutely livid that something so serious has happened to someone so important.
"As always happens with things like this, the guys responsible make themselves scarce. The brothers have gone to ground but the Daniels are desperate to find them. They want to know where they are and where they've gone and they're prepared to pay to find out."
Bonzo, who is also known as Steven Peebles, suffered grotesque facial wounds after being attacked with a machete following a high-speed car chase in May 2017 after a wave of violence between the Lyons and Daniel families erupted the previous December.
The six thugs behind the attack - which saw his tongue shredded and his teeth and jaw bone exposed, leaving medics believing he'd been shot - were jailed for more than 100 years.
Cops have confirmed they are now investigating the crash and officers are now appealing to the public for information that may help to establish the circumstances around the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.45pm on Tuesday, November 15, police were called to an incident in John Marshall Drive, Glasgow where a vehicle struck a house and the vehicle went on fire. Police and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident.
"There were no reports of any injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and anyone with information should contact 101 with reference number 3545 of November 15."
