Aussie Icon Robert Irwin Is The New Co-Host Of I’m A Celebrity & No, Keep Me In There

Australia’s favourite nepo baby Robert Irwin is officially joining I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here for Season 10 in 2024!

Rob will be joining existing host Julia Morris in South Africa following Dr Chris Brown‘s departure from the beloved reality show after nine seasons. And the biggest surprise? He’s ditched his khaki fit for a suit!!!

What is Rob Irwin known for?

In case you’ve been living under a rock, or I guess, in another country, Rob Irwin is Australian royalty. His dad was Steve Irwin, the beloved conservationist, and animal educator who was known best for his show The Crocodile Hunter. Steve passed away in 2006 when Robert was only three years old. However, his wife Terri Irwin continued his legacy, encouraging wildlife conservation at Australia Zoo and through the media alongside Rob and his sister Bindi.

Since then, Rob has been a part of the Australian media scene. He’s become a television personality, a zookeeper at Australia Zoo and a talented wildlife photographer.

How old is Rob Irwin and is he the youngest host yet?

Robert Irwin is 20 years old, making him the youngest host of I’m A CelebrityGet Me Out Of Here Australia ever! To be totally fair, the show has only had two hosts before — 45-year-old Chris Brown and 55-year-old Julia Morris — so he’s done pretty damn well!

Despite the age difference, Rob’s addition to the I’m A Celeb team has been met with glowing reviews from fans online.

“Robert is such a talented and witty, funny little bugger. And the perfect match to our like-minded Julia,” one person commented on Instagram.

“I’m going to miss Chris but I can’t wait to see Julia and Robert together,” another wrote.

The cutest part about Robert’s new gig? He’s actually been on the show before. Eight years ago when he still rocked the bowl cut as a 12-year-old, Robert came on the show to share his animal knowledge with the campmates. CUTE!!!!

How much is Rob getting paid for the gig?

Robert is reportedly being paid a cheeky cheque of $500,000 for the incredible gig. Not too shabby for a 20-year-old being flown half way across the world, hey?

After finding out this information, I’d like to offer my own services as an unknown 28-year-old who doesn’t particularly like snakes to come on board as another host. You know, if you need.

When did the rumours of Rob taking the hosting gig begin?

Whispers of Robbo taking out the hosting gig began in September 2023.

According to TV Blackbox, “trusted sources” claimed I’m A Celeb’s newest host was the youngest Irwin and boy, golly, were they correct. Good stuff TV Blackbox!

The casting change came after OG I’m A Celeb Host, Dr Chris Brown announced that he would be leaving the show after Season Nine in 2023.

Prior to this hosting gig, Irwin won the nation’s hearts after he made a guest appearance as a weatherman for Sunrise.

He has also used his star power in the iconic kids’ show Bluey and performed on stage with The Wiggles. So, I reckon this I’m A Celeb gig will be a piece of cake for this wholesome Aussie icon.

Also, I’m A Celeb is literally based in the jungle, and sometimes, the challenges involve animals, which is literally Irwin’s area of expertise.

As previously reported, Sam Pang was rumoured to be Morris’ new sidekick on the show, which would’ve been an awesome choice due to his extensive experience in hosting, which involves radio, Eurovision and The Front Bar.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, Morris previously revealed that they’d been doing screen tests for I’m A Celeb with six potential hosts. And TV Blackbox reported that Pete Helliar, Joel Creasey and Beau Ryan were also rumoured to be replacing Dr Brown.
