The Liverpool ECHO has been highly commended in the ECB's annual Domestic Cricket Journalism Awards.
Our coverage earned commendations in the Regional Newspaper of the Year category, as well as Outstanding Newspaper Coverage of Domestic Cricket.
The awards were open to regional and national titles from across the country and reflects their coverage for the calendar year of 2021.
A judging panel, supplied by the Cricket Writers' Club, said of the ECHO: "Its coverage of the sport impressed the judges for its breadth and depth - not least an interview with Ellie Threlkeld of nearby Rainford CC, one of the stars of the Hundred, and a well-researched feature on left-arm spin.”
They added: "The ECHO is to be commended for the way it uses limited resources to cover domestic cricket in the region."
Highlights of last year's cricket coverage included an exciting season in the Love Lane Liverpool Competition, in which defending champions Firwood Bootle were relegated on a dramatic final day, and Lancashire's one-wicket win over Hampshire at Aigburth, which earned the Red Rose county second place in the LV= Insurance County Championship.
