Cricket for Visually Challenged: Indian men's team beat England by 7 wickets

NEW DELHI: Continuing their impressive streak at the inaugural International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games in Birmingham, the Indian men's cricket team for the visually challenged clinched a commanding seven-wicket victory over England on Tuesday.

This triumph marks India's second win out of three matches played so far. The team is now gearing up to face Bangladesh in their next encounter on Wednesday.

England chose to bat and enjoyed a promising start. Nevertheless, the partnership between Venkateswara Rao Dunna and Sunil Ramesh led to a run out, triggering a subsequent collapse.

England's final score stood at 147/5 within the allocated 20 overs. None of the English batters managed to exceed the 40-run mark, as the Indian bowlers maintained precise line and length.

Pursuing a target of 148, the Indian batters handled England's bowlers adeptly, despite losing a wicket in the fifth over. Vice-captain Venkateswara's impactful performance ensured India maintained their grip on the chase, crafting a well-compiled 54 runs from 27 balls.

In the end, India comfortably chased down the target, leaving a substantial 30-ball margin.

Brief Scores: India 148/3 (Venkateswara Rao Dunna 54) beat England 147/5 (M Dean 38).
