Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue are 'salvaging property' after a major fire in Ranskill. Two engines remain at the scene after a significant fire on an industrial site on Friday (August 5).
Thousands of tyres were on fire, which caused a large black smoke plume to be visible from miles around. Crews from around the county tackled the blaze through the weekend.
One fire crew is currently at the scene 'salvaging property', with the help of nearby businesses. The other crew is creating fire breaks to prevent the spread and protect the surrounding environment.

There is still a significant smoke plume that is blowing towards Ranskill and the nearby train line. Trains have been asked to reduce their speed and residents have been told to keep windows and doors closed if they see or smell smoke.
The site is partly operational and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue have worked to support those affected along with BT and Western Power. Firefighters expect to remain at the site for several more days in order to make the area safe.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "The support we have received from the local community has been incredible and we would like to thank everyone who has shown their support to us. We will do all we can to keep you safe."
