Creetown Gala is back with a bang – and that’s official.
After a three year Covid-enforced absence, the popular event had the Ferrytoon buzzing last week.
Always the local highlight of the year, the festival was brought back to life by a new committee with garage owner and community enthusiast Jim McDowall as chairman.
The team was faced with the problem of getting a deliverable programme in place in time – and decided to shorten the traditional gala week to four days.
And the move paid off as all events were well supported and hundreds flocked to Saturday’s grand finale – the fancy dress parade from Louden Place to the park, followed by a fun-filled afternoon of entertainment.
Creetown Silver Band and Kippy & Co provided the music as stallholders and fundraisers in the marquee did a roaring trade.
Celebrations began on the Wednesday night with the crowning of 2022 Creetown Gala Queen Chloe McLeod.
Former gala committee chairman Robert Ross in Adamson Square did the honours in front of a large crowd before a walking family treasure hunt got under way, followed by an outdoor disco.
Thursday’s bowling competition drew a big entry and was won jointly by Scott White and Annie Collier while gala committee member Sarah Lindsay stormed to victory in the domino competition. Friday saw a Teddy Bears Picnic in the Waverley Hall with the ever-popular Douglas the Clown and prize bingo in the evening,
