Creetown geared up for their second cup final of the season with victory over St Cuthbert Wanderers on Saturday.
The Castle Cary Park side ran out 2-1 winners over the Utility Hut South of Scotland League champions thanks to goals from Joe McMillan and Josh Rennie.
The win keeps their unbeaten record intact and also leaves them top of the table.
Boss Jamie Adams said: “It was a good win. I think we played well in patches, especially just after half-time when for half an hour we were brilliant.
“We scored a goal which put us 2-0 up and killed the game. It was a good win.
“We lost a cheap goal, which is disappointing, but we’ve won a few games by one goal this season and I’ve never been nervous. I know how
good some of the boys are and I’ve got a lot of faith in them.
“I wouldn’t say I was nervous but you know when it gets to that stage late in the game there’s a half-chance it could be a draw but the boys did well to see it out.
“They’re a tough team to play, I think they’ve had an up and down season, but they were better organised and better off the ball than the last time we played them.”
The win leaves Creetown two points clear of Lochar Thistle, who have played a game more, and six points ahead of Abbey Vale, who have a game in hand.
On Friday night, Creetown return to St Mary’s Park to face Vale in the Alba Cup Final.
Adams’ side have already won the South of Scotland League Cup this season but the manager doesn’t feel that gives his side a huge advantage.
He said: “It might help, there’s boys there who have won a lot of games, same as Abbey Vale.
“I’ve got a lot of winners in the team - younger boys and older boys - but I’m sure Abbey Vale have got a lot of boys who have won stuff at this level.
“I think both managers will respect the opposition but at the same time believe in how good their own squad is and believe they have a chance of winning it.”
