Cranside Kitchen's Winter Village returns with rooftop whisky bar, winter BBQ and ski gondolas

Glasgow's biggest Winter village is set to return this festive season as Cranside Kitchen's Christmas celebrations kick off and it transforms into a Scandi-inspired experience.

Opening its doors from Thursday, November 24 through to New Year's Eve, the village will offer a selection of independent street food vendors, drinks and exciting entertainment including live music, a comedy club and a festive party night.

Featuring all the things festive fans will love, the winter village will be packed with festive garlands and frost-effect foliage, fairy lights, mini Scandi-style decorated Christmas trees and of course heater stands to keep that Glasgow Winter chill at bay.

The organisers confirmed the Giant Christmas Tree is back for 2022 for guests to create and capture magical ‘instagrammable moments’ with their family and loved ones.

A spokesperson for Cranside said: "Promising festive fun for all, Cranside Winter Village is the place to be seen this Christmas. There is something for everyone, whether you're looking for a smaller, cosier evening outdoors or indoors for food and drink, eager to catch the World Cup screenings with a beer, or choosing to have a big party and renting the entire site."

This year, guests can hire one of Cranside's Swedish Forest Chalets - bespoke private huts for up to 6 guests where they can enjoy a luxurious haven with comfy seating and warm rugs while clinking glasses of champagne in celebration.

While the private Kopparberg Ski Gondolas offer a trendy capsule which seats six people and has been customised with fresh upholstery and subtle lighting for warmth and comfort - and hot cider on tap.

Foodies can still enjoy a choice of up to seven restaurants available on the Cranside app including Romanos, Halloumi, and Asian street food brand XI'AN and two new festive-inspired food market stalls offering Hog Roasts every weekend, Bratwurst and Gluhwein.

And, new for 2022, Smokey Goodness will offer Glasgow's first Winter BBQ serving meaty, steak, wings, burgers and grilled vegetables.

The team added that throughout the festive season Cranside Winter Village Stage will host a variety of live entertainment with resident DJs playing disco and club classics every weekend as well as Christmas comedy night and party nights open until 2 am.

There will also be a rooftop Cocktail and Whisky Bar, World Cup screenings and comedy nights throughout December.

The Cranside team added: "If you’re not quite brave enough to brace the cold, the Hygge Lounge offers an enclosed space and a cosy atmosphere, fully undercover for a sheltered night out with heaters and blankets to keep you snug - because why should the typical Scottish weather stop you from enjoying a great Christmas night out."
