Craig Revel Horwood shares Strictly secret which means he gets paid twice as much

Craig Revel Horwood has revealed how judges of hit show Strictly Come Dancing get two days' pay despite only working one.

The dance show judge, 57, made the shock revelation on the opening night of his one-man-tour titled The All Balls And Glitter Tour.

At his tour opener at Cheltenham Town Hall, Craig was asked about his stint on the show and surprised onlookers with his pay announcement.

The Sun reports him saying: "We got paid for Saturday and Sunday but now I only have to do one day and get paid for both."

He also went on to confess how he nearly opted against being on the show all together when it first launched in 2004.

He described how his manager and agent urgent him to take part despite Craig himself thinking the idea sounded like car crash television.

He continued: "Celebrities trying to dance in three weeks dancing, with a professional partner who has been dancing their entire life.

"I thought that will never work out - absolutely awful."

Despite having his arm twisted, he admits he still wasn't sure on the show and thought he just had to "get this over and done with".

And he revealed how both himself and Len Goodman didn't expect the opening series to last past three weeks.

"Three weeks went by and the audience viewing figures started skyrocketing and then it won the hearts and minds of the nation," he revealed.

He admits he now loves the show and is glad he persevered with it - especially as it is now in the Guinness Book of Records for being the most produced format show in the world.

Speaking ahead of this year's series, Craig said he was backing Anton DuBeke to be on the panel, casting further doubt on the future of Bruno Tonioli.

He said: "I am so pleased he is a judge now finally. You know there are only so many years you can be on the front row with the dancing, then the second, then the third row and then the fourth and then the only place out of sheer death is the wing.

"I was pleased they got him off the dancefloor and put him where he belongs. So bravo Anton. I hope he comes back next year, I am sure he will."

Bruno had been a fixture on the show since it began and was present for the first 17 series, appearing via video link for series 18 and then stepping aside for Anton last year.
