Craig Mallon's dad in emotional plea for 'mystery woman' to come forward decade after murder

The father of Craig Mallon, who was killed in Spain on his brother's stag 10 years ago, has made a heartfelt plea for a mystery woman who called emergency services to come forward.

The 26-year-old, from Coatbridge, was killed by a single blow outside a nightclub in Spain's Lloret de Mar in the early hours of May 19, 2012.

A group of young men, believed to be French, attacked Craig and his friends as they left Rockefellers Bar in the early hours.

Despite eyewitness accounts and authorities discovering the group of key witnesses had left their hotel early, the case was not solved.

A specialist inquiry team, led by retired Strathclyde Police detective David Swindle, discovered an English-speaking woman made a call from the scene that night but has never been traced.

Speaking to mark the 10th anniversary of the tragedy, Craig's father Ian Mallon made an appeal for the woman to get in touch as she may hold crucial information about the case.

He said: "On the night Craig was killed there was a girl who phoned the police and the ambulance and I appeal to her from the bottom of my heart to come forward.

"I know it's 10 years but if she saw anything or she knows anything, even if she doesn't think it's important, please come forward.

"David Swindle and his team have really found some important information but we need more from people who were there.

"Let's find the killer of Craig and get closure on this."

Mr Mallon's wife Antoinette died in 2018 without seeing justice for her son and he blames her death on what they went through.

He added: "This has destroyed our family. My poor wife gave up from day one and she has went to her death not knowing who killed Craig.

"We don't want another family to go through this."

Mr Mallon was speaking on the podcast Swindle's Search For The Truth which has been launched in a bid to find answers on the death.
