Hearts have been hit with a fresh injury body blow after star defender Craig Halkett was ruled out for the season.
The Jambos haven't had their problems to seek with a host of key men, including Halkett himself, missing large chunks of a campaign which included group stage European football. Halkett arrived for the Edinburgh derby on crutches after the horror knee injury suffered in the 2-2 draw with Dundee United. It came on the same day keeper Craig Gordon was also lost for the season.
A gutted Robbie Neilson reacted to the latest setback. He said: “It’s obviously very disappointing news to lose Craig’s services for the remainder of the season. We’re gutted for Craig, first and foremost. He’s been outstanding for the club in recent seasons both on and off the pitch and I’m sure he’ll be back fitter and stronger than ever. We’re fortunate enough to have top class medical and sports science teams and facilities at Hearts so Craig will get the best possible care as he rests up and then starts his rehabilitation.”
