Craig Doyle confirms This Morning 'last' as fans flood show bosses with demand

Craig Doyle has confirmed a 'last' during his latest stint on This Morning. The Irish broadcaster finished up his latest week-long stint on the ITV daytime show alongside Holly Willoughby on Thursday (July 6).

The pair have spent the past two weeks fronting the popular programme together after Craig was drafted in on a more permanent basis to co-host following the sudden exit of Phillip Schofield. The 61-year-old announces last month he was quitting the show after more than 20 years on the famous sofa.

However, he later stepped back from his career with ITV altogether after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague which has since seen those in charge of ITV quizzed by MPs during a session of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee in Parliament last month.

Since then, Holly has been joined by Craig, Josie Gibson and Dermot O'Leary at the helm of This Morning and after a week of shows last week with Craig, they were back together for another stint before Dermot returns to screens alongside Alison Hammond on Friday (July 7).

And they had a busy show on their hands as Holly prepares to wind down for the summer. They chatted to Formula 1 superstar Lando Norris who appeared live on the show via video link from Silverstone ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix while cosmetic surgeon to the stars doctor Aaron Rollins was in the studio to talk about the fat removal procedure taking Hollywood by storm.

There was also all the usual segments from health to fashion to cookery, meanwhile, there was also a game of Spin to Win for good measure. Those who watch This Morning know that its sees viewers who have entered tasked with saying just one phrase when they are called by the show.

Saying the right passphrase allows them the opportunity to win a huge cash prize by either spinning the giant wheel dropped into the studio or spinning the tombola balls. But as they were about to get underway with the latest game, Craig confirmed it was the "last" before the summer meaning it won't likely return until September.

Meanwhile, This Morning viewers have once again been issuing their demand to show bosses that Craig should be made permanent on the programme. The latest round of comments came after Craig, 52, and Holly, 42, interviewed twins Lucy and Matthew Beale, who have cerebral palsy, alongside their mum about an event they are due to take part in.

The twins were diagnosed with the condition that affects muscle control, movement and coordination at 14 months old and they were live on the show to speak to the presenters about a triathlon that they are set to take part in. But it was Craig's attention to the interview and the children that impressed viewers and they flocked to social media to comment.

@johnlennonsboot said: "Think that interview cemented the permanent job for Craig hopefully #ThisMorning." @Bebop76845845 replied: "You can't say that any male presenter would be better tbh." @MitchellWebb85 posted: "Craig needs to be the permanent host so down to earth and likeable #ThisMorning."

@FlopsyPickle tweeted: "Can we please have Craig on all the time? Not only is he easy on the eye he’s funny but can also be serious when necessary. Plus I think he works well with Holly #ThisMorning." @SpannaD added: "Craig is just a breath of fresh air!! Can we keep him PLLLLEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE #ThisMorning."
