Craig David wants to 'help the greater good' after his own success: 'It's more than just numbers'

Craig David wants to help others with his platform

Craig David tries to "help the greater good" after his own success.

The 43-year-old singer has been active in the music business for more than two decades but has insisted that things are no longer about statistics to him and he just wants to offer a hand to the next generation of stars.

Speaking on UK TV show 'Lorraine', he said: "I genuinely want to see people. When I meet people who are on the come up, if they ask me for some advice, then I'm there to give it. But to be an example of that because it gets to a point where it needs to be more than just 'How many records have you sold?' or 'What chart position are you?'

"Are you actually helping the greater good in some way? So yeah, when you find that sweet spot everything just becomes really magical."

Meanwhile, the 'In Your Hands' singer revealed that he recently had a meeting with an accountant about his finances and softened the moment by offering him a bowl of chocolates.

He said: "When I give chocolate out, I see the child in people. I had an accountant come to my house. The tie was so tight, restricting the throat. He was talking about some affairs, and I put a bowl of chocolate in front of him.

"It was a big bowl of chocolate, mounds of these little chocolate balls. And the moment he reached out, I saw his eyes open up wide, I saw the kid in him. Just for a moment. And then he caught himself and sorted the tie back out. I just love that in people. I think the more you can bring that out, the better."
