Craig Cash delights Gogglebox viewers with new series announcement after show's three month break

Craig Cash has deliver news which is music to the ears of Gogglebox fans, confirming that the new series of the Channel 4 show is just days away.

In the early days of the much loved programme, Craig shared narrator duties with Caroline Aherne, his on-screen wife from the Royle Family. Caroline sadly passed away in 2016, at the age of 52, after a battle with cancer. Friend Craig has continued to do the late comedian proud by staying on as the voice of Gogglebox, with the show winning a BAFTA earlier this year.

And, as millions of viewers tuned into the return of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Sunday night, an advert played out featuring fan favourites as Craig announced that the new series of Gogglebox would start on Friday, September 9 on Channel 4 at 9pm.

It's been more than three months since Gogglebox fans last saw the likes of Jenny and Lee, The Malones and Dave and Shirley being in action as armchair critics, giving opinions from their sofas on a wide array of shows, ranging from Eurovision to the Platinum Jubilee and The Repair Shop to Beat The Chasers. As the cast celebrated their BAFTA win, the last series came to an end at the end of May.

The Gogglebox shaped void in fans' lives was filled by the return of Celebrity Gogglebox, featuring returning stars like Denise Van Outen, Rylan Clark and his mum Linda and Gyles Brandreth, as well as a Pride special starring the cast of Heartstopper and pop group Steps.

However, as far as many viewers are concerned, there's nothing like 'normal' Gogglebox, so they're all delighted the cast will soon be back on screen.
