The Rangers Champions League dream is still alive heading to Holland – but Celtic fans reckon the Ibrox club’s luck might be running out. Gers have created some incredible nights in Europe over the last couple of years but it doesn’t wash with punters across the city.

“Now they go to Eindhoven where they will now be exposed against a very average Dutch outfit who are far superior. Wee Gio, just like Gerrard before him, will be soon looking for the quickest exit door at Ibrox.” William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: “Caller George Wilson said that Rangers proved that they can play well away in Europe. Did he forget the last away game against Union SG?”
The Ryan Kent versus Jota argument is just getting started for the season. Kevin Kean emailed: “Barry Ferguson says Ryan Kent is a match winner like Jota? Is there a Rangers fan who truthfully wouldn't swap them, when was Kent's last meaningful match winning contribution?”
Meanwhile James Tavernier’s new deal at Rangers has gone down a storm with fans but, surprise, surprise, it’s a different story with Hoops fans. Eddie Easson Ballingry, said: “I take my hat off to James Tavernier. Ten years is a long time to stay at one club. On a negative note nearly seven years at Ibrox two trophies to show and a ton of second prizes.”
Gers fan Gordon Hendry, Ochiltree, is concerned about next week and said: “I simply cannot understand why GVB continues to play James Sands as a central defender as it's costing us big time, particularly at set pieces. He’s even making Goldson look uncomfortable. If Balogun had been playing against PSV instead of sitting in the stand I'm sure we wouldn't have lost the second goal. Bring back Davies, Katic or Souttar I'd even play young Leon King before Sands.”
But get Carol Vorderman and the Countdown crew for this conundrum as Alfie Mullen, London, hit back and said: “It's just as well I wasn't eating, when I read Tam Williamson's comment on the Hotline, or I would've choked with laughter. He called Celtic one of Europe's elite clubs. I think he made a mistake with two letters, in the word elite. Now if he replaced the E with an S and the L with an H, he'd have been spot on.”
Oh, hang on. No need for word games as Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Hibs Chairman Ron Gordon's cup overfloweth with optimism, but Ron better pray that the Old Firm never leave Scotland. I put Rangers magnificent European run and a resurgent Celtic as the real reason behind the improved TV deal. His own side are like watching paint dry.”
Finally, Doug Lyburn, Nottingham, said: “When is caller Jim McClean going to say anything positive about Killie? Throughout last season all we got from him was gloom and doom, and now he's at it again! Sure, the Celtic defeat was poor but, come on, we're only just back up and these games won't determine where we finish in the league. Lighten up Jim! Killie will be back!”
