Crackdown on family violence unveiled in $100m package

LAW REFORMS:

* Make court-imposed family violence intervention orders longer, including a presumption of a new standard minimum length

* Changes to how the orders are served, including examining postal or email delivery

* Give police powers to directly issue the orders or longer family violence safety notices

* Stronger protections for stalking victims, including through reforming the stalking offence

* Strengthen guidance for magistrates on sentencing for breaches of family violence intervention orders after gathering advice

EDUCATION INITIATIVES:

* More intensive Respectful Relationships program training and support for Victorian teachers and staff

* Expand the modelling respect and equality program to 240 school to help teachers and staff establish a culture of healthy masculinity

* Age-appropriate curriculum resources for schools on toxic masculinity, hate speech, pornography and coercive control

* A new Respect Victoria campaign to address harmful masculinity and raise awareness

* A nation-first perpetrator study to understand how to best change their behaviour and assess if programs are working

* Mandatory training for staff seeking a responsible service of alcohol certificate to identify and prevent sexual assault and harassment in venues

PROGRAM CHANGES:

* Boost in case management, including extra follow-ups with men who complete behaviour change programs

* Support for a pilot by McAuley Community Services for Women that supports women at-risk of becoming homeless

* Create a new "justice navigator" pilot to help survivors of sexual assault access support, recovery and justice options

* More accommodation for perpetrators so women and children can remain in their homes and local communities

* Establish a "working women's centre" to provide support to women experiencing gendered violence and sexual harassment in the workplace
