CPI (M) Srikakulam district president D. Govinda Rao has said that the party will stage a protest on February 16 over denial of Special Category Status (SCS) and other benefits to Andhra Pradesh.
“The Union government has been showing step-motherly attitude towards the State by not implementing the assurances given in the A.P. State Reorganisation Act, 2014,” he said in a release on Friday.
“The BJP-led government at the Centre, which had failed to win seats in the 2019 general elections in the State, has developed a grudge against the people. That is the reason why it has stopped the funds allocated for the development of the North Andhra region,” he alleged.
“Srikakulam district is the biggest victim. Unfortunately, the Government of A.P. is maintaining silence on the issue,” Mr. Govinda Rao said, and added that the protest would highlight the negligence of both the governments.
