Cowboys, Zack Martin Agree on New Contract to End Holdout, per Report

The Cowboys and All-Pro guard Zach Martin agreed on a reworked deal Monday that will put an end to the team captain’s holdout, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal will pay him more than $18 million in each of the next two seasons and was confirmed by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo

Martin originally was due to make $13.5 million in 2023, including a $1.7 million base salary. That’s far below the league’s top earners at the offensive guard position, and he has not reported to training camp due to his lack of a new deal. Dallas was fining Martin $50,000 a day for each day of training camp missed, according to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News.

With a deal reportedly done, the Cowboys now secure their most productive and consistent player on the offensive side of the ball. Since being drafted in 2014, Martin has been selected to eight Pro Bowls and been named first-team All-Pro on six occasions. During that timeframe, he has missed a grand total of just nine games.

Now with Martin back in the fold, Dallas has all the pieces in place to make another run for the postseason and more.
