Cowboys WR Makes Dynamic Catch But Suffers Concussion in Practice

Cowboys wide receiver David Durden exited Tuesday’s practice after making a sensational diving catch in the end zone.

The rookie wideout suffered a concussion on the play and is not expected to be available for Dallas’s preseason opener against the Jaguars on Saturday, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

ESPN’s Todd Archer posted footage of the highlight-reel catch from Durden. The 24-year-old could be seen laying out to complete the touchdown catch. Durden got to his feet to celebrate the reception, but he quickly returned to the ground, seemingly in pain.

Those in attendance at practice could be heard applauding the catch from Durden.

Durden signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent this offseason. He played college football at West Florida, where he scored 13 touchdowns as a senior while also returning punts.

He previously spent a season playing minor league baseball and was a former 20th-round pick in the 2017 MLB draft by the Red Sox. After one year in the Gulf Coast League, Durden quit baseball to pursue a career in football.

Durden’s next chance to suit up for Dallas will come in the team’s second preseason game which is set for Saturday, Aug. 19 in Seattle.
