It almost seems like Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons praises the Washington Commanders, Dan Quinn, and Jayden Daniels, more than he does his own team.
OK, perhaps we are exaggerating a bit, but Parsons hasn’t been shy about his love and respect for Quinn, who coached him for his first three NFL seasons. The two remain close despite Quinn coaching one of Dallas’ primary rivals.
Parsons has also shared his thoughts on Daniels — Washington’s spectacular rookie quarterback. He’s a big fan.
This week, Parsons and the Cowboys host the Commanders in the regular-season finale. Dallas is done after this game, while Washington is headed to the playoffs. Despite already clinching a playoff berth, Sunday is big for the Commanders, who are trying to lock in the sixth overall seed in the NFC.
On the latest installment of his podcast, “The Edge,” Parsons shared how impressed he was with Daniels after his performances in wins over the Eagles and Falcons the last two weeks.
“Obviously, going against Jayden Daniels, we’ve seen him the last two weeks, he’s icy,” Parsons said. “I think if Jayden Daniels was doing what he’s doing now, well, he was doing a little bit before the rib injury; I think the rib injury held him back. But what I noticed these last couple of weeks, he’s not afraid to run anymore. I think if he didn’t have that rib injury, we’re looking at, you know, a MVP conversation for him. Obviously, he’s locked up the Offensive Rookie of the Year, I haven’t seen more of a coldblooded rookie since I’ve been in the NFL and probably the past besides Lamar [Jackson], probably past five, seven years.”
Parsons would praise Daniels for his composure, calling him the best rookie over the last few years.
Parsons and Daniels will be seeing one another for years to come.
