Cowboys Sign QB Cooper Rush to Two-Year Deal, per Report

The Cowboys are re-signing quarterback Cooper Rush on a two-year deal that can be worth up to $6 million total, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Rush was initially an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan, and signed with the Cowboys right after the 2017 NFL draft. He has played for Dallas for the last five seasons, outside of a brief stint with the Giants in 2020 before returning to Dallas.

In the last two seasons, Rush has served as the backup for quarterback Dak Prescott. Last year, Rush played in nine games, including starting five while Prescott was recovering from thumb surgery, and totaled 1,051 passing yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

In the six games that Rush has started for the Cowboys since the start of the 2021 season, Dallas has a 5–1 record. The Cowboys quarterback depth chart now consists of Rush, Prescott and Will Grier entering the 2023 season.
