Cowboys RB Tony Pollard Says $10 Million Franchise Tag Is ‘Fine With Me’

Tony Pollard is taking the road less traveled when it comes to his current contract situation. While the new Cowboys RB1 will play the 2023 NFL season under the franchise tag worth $10.1 million, he appears to have little issue with that as training camp gets underway.

When asked about playing under the tag, Pollard gave a blunt and candid answer, while making it known he's ready to focus on winning. And as The Athletic's Jon Machota revealed, Pollard said making $10 million is fine with him.

Pollard's comments are interesting, but obviously, his current situation is slightly different in comparison to some other running backs who are currently in contract disputes. As the Cowboys running back pointed out, he's already signed the tag, so he's at training camp and ready to go to work.

But beyond that, Pollard is coming off a rookie contract that was worth just north of $3.18 million over four years, so this is a big pay bump for him. Realistically, if Pollard's performance is as impressive in 2023 as it was last season, there's little doubt that he'll have a multi-year deal in the coming seasons.
