Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Responds to Nick Bosa’s Historic Contract Extension

Cowboys linebacker and defensive end Micah Parsons praised Nick Bosa after the 49ers defensive end agreed to historic five-year deal, worth up to $170 million on Wednesday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Moments after Bosa secured the deal, Parsons shared why he was “super happy” for the 49ers star.

“… He [Nick Bosa] really showed why he was the best player in the league last year, and it gives you something to chase,” Parsons said, per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News. “Not in terms of his contract but in terms of how great he was if you study his mindset, how patient he was.”

Bosa’s extension includes a guaranteed $122.5 million, making the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history and concluding his holdout. Additionally, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the 49ers are also expected to waive Bosa’s fines from not attending training camp.

The lucrative deal comes after San Francisco decided not to extend Bosa prior to the fourth year of his rookie contract last season, but the star pass-rusher continued to suit up and play. In 2022, the three-time Pro Bowler compiled 18.5 sacks, registered 51 tackles and forced two fumbles while earning only $5.2 million.

Now, Bosa has been rewarded and is slated to play in the 49ers’ Week 1 matchup on Sunday against the Steelers.
