Shoppers at some Bristol supermarkets might notice 'roving' covid vaccine clinics outside as case rates rise in the region. Today (Wednesday, June 22) a vaccination point was due to set up at Morrisons in Fishponds and at Emersons Green Retail Park, and there are other clinics planned next week and the following week.
South Gloucestershire Council tweeted: "There are roving clinics around South Glos this week! With the rising Covid rates across the region, getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself. Vaccines are still free and available for people above the age of 5."
"Upcoming vaccine clinics include: 22 June from 10am until 4pm - Morrisons Fishponds BS16 3US - Emersons Green Retail Park BS16 7AE. 29 June and 6 July from 10am until 4pm - Yate Shopping Centre outside Tesco and M&S in carpark BS37 4AP - Asda Longwell Green BS30 7DY."

The council did not state if people had to book, but usually pop-up clinics are designed to accept walk-ins and are set up in places with high footfall. It directed people to the Healthier Together site for information about more walk-in clinics and eligibility.
Last week's covid report from Bristol City Council shows that 1 in 63 Bristol residents are estimated to have had the virus in the last week - which is 1.58 per cent of people in the city. That is a small increase from the previous week, when the data showed it was one in 65. A total of four people have died with covid in Bristol in the last four weeks, which is two per cent of all deaths recorded in the period.
The council said in its report: "It is estimated that 1.6 per cent of people in Bristol, BANES and North Somerset have had COVID-19 in the past week, the same as the estimated national average in England which is 1.6 per cent.
"The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 has increased to 43 people from 34 last week. The number of patients in intensive care are at less than five.
"Vaccination against coronavirus is the best way to protect against serious illness from the virus. The data shows that COVID-19 has not gone away."
