Covid travel: Greece updates entry requirements for fully vaccinated Scots

Holiday hotspot Greece has updated their entry requirements for fully vaccinated jet setters.

Previously, all UK arrivals had to take a pre-departure Covid test in order to visit Greece, either a PCR or antigen test from an authorised lab.

As from February 7, Greek officials have confirmed that those who are fully vaccinated -and can show proof- no longer need to take the costly pre-departure Covid test.

Greece also follows EU advice regarding vaccines. Like Spain and France, to be registered as 'fully vaccinated', the last jag must have been received within 270 days (nine months) before travel.

If you second Covid jag was given over 270 days ago, you must have the booster to be considered as 'fully vaccinated'.

In addition, arrivals into Greece may be required to undergo a rapid COVID-19 test on arrival. If you test positive on arrival in Greece, you (and those you are travelling with) will have to self-isolate for at least 5 days at home or in quarantine hotels provided by the Greek state.

But it is worth noting that Greece do follow strict Covid regulations day-to-day.

The UK Foreign Office advice explains: "It is mandatory to wear a mask in all indoor and outdoor public spaces, in all areas of Greece. In certain areas, such as in supermarkets and pharmacies, and on public transport, you will be required to wear either double masks (at least one of which should be surgical), or an N95/FFP2 mask."

Anyone who is unvaccinated can still visit Greece for non-essential reasons such as holidays, but you'll be required to take the pre-departure covid test.

And no matter what your vaccination status is, the Greek Government also “strongly recommends” that you take either a certified rapid test, or certified PCR test on both days 2 and 4 after arrival into Greece.

The measures to enter Greece apply to all travellers aged five and above.

Children under five do not need to provide a negative test for entry to Greece.
