BHOPAL: As the politicians made a beeline for the Kundalpur pilgrimage of the Jain community, it was the turn of the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to the congregation where lakhs of people visited.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress leader Kamal Nath, Union minister Prahalad Patel and a number of cabinet colleagues of Shivraj cabinet have also visited for the past few days. Addressing the gathering, Chouhan said that all Covid restrictions were lifted in view of the Kundalpur event. “Aur Covid bhee bhag gaya,” (and the Covid also ran away), he announced amidst thunderous applause. He said, “Now very small numbers of cases of cold and cough are reported in the state.” Situated about 300 kms away from Bhopal, Kundalpur is located on a hilltop in Damoh district of the Bundelkhand region of MP. It has a large statue of Lord Adinath (also known as Bade Baba). The statue is in a sitting (Padmasana) posture and is 15 feet in height.
Members of the Jain community from India and abroad have been visiting the site of religious importance of the community seeking the blessings of Acharya Vidya Sagar who is referred to as Chote Baba among other spiritual leaders of the community.
