The Liverpool City Region has seen a quarter rise in Covid infections.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, there have been 12,572 infections in the week ending March 20 in the Liverpool City Region - that's 2,553 more infections than the previous week. It means the LCR's week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 26%.
The Wirral recorded the biggest rise in positive tests with a 38% rise. The other week-on-week percentage change figure increases were: 23% in Knowsley; 16% in Liverpool; 31% in Halton; 28% in St Helens; and, 22% in Sefton. There were also rises in West Lancs, Warrington, and Cheshire West and Chester, with recorded week-on-week percentage change figure rises of 24%, 34%, and 28%.

There was a 27% increase in infections in England in the week ending March 20.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,369 cases in the week ending March 20, which is 467 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 16%. The latest infection rate was 673.2 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 3,025 cases in the week ending March 20, which is 838 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 38%. The latest infection rate was 932.7 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 1,123 positive tests over the last week - that's 267 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 31% in Halton in the week ending March 20. The latest infection rate is 865.5 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 1,402 cases in the week ending March 20, which is 310 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 774.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 28%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 1,120 cases in the week ending March 20, which is 207 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 734.7 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 23%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 2,533 cases in the week ending March 20, which is a 464 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 918.1 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 22% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 12,572.0 positive tests over in the week ending March 20, which is 2,553 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 26%. The latest infection rate is 738.34 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 1,851 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 20, which is 473 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure increased by 34%. There was an infection rate of 883.97 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 3,258 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 20, which is 708 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 947.58 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage increased by 28% in cases.
England
In the week ending March 20, England recorded 476,559 coronavirus cases, which is 102,555 more cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage increase of 27% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 842.72 per 100,000 people.
