Covid infections drop by a third in one part of Merseyside

A part of Merseyside has recorded a fall in positive Covid tests by just over a third.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, Knowsley recorded 129 cases in the week ending May 14. That's 73 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

It meant the week-on-week percentage change figure in Knowsley dropped by 36%.

All six areas of the Liverpool City Region recorded falls in positive Covid tests. The week-on-week percentage change figure falls were: 17% in Liverpool; 24% in Halton; 24% in St Helens; 20% in Sefton; 26% in Wirral.

There were further drops in Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington, and West Lancs in the week ending May 14.

And the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 21% in England overall.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 421 cases in the week ending May 14, which is 85 fewer cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 17%. The latest infection rate was 84.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 280 cases in the week ending May 14, which is 96 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 26%. The latest infection rate was 86.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 110 positive tests over the last week - that's 34 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 24% in Halton in the week ending May 14. The latest infection rate is 84.8 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 164 cases in the week ending May 14, which is 52 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 90.6 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 24%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 129 cases in the week ending May 14, which is 73 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 84.6 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 36%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 289 cases in the week ending May 14, which is a 74 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 104.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 20% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 1,393 positive tests over in the week ending May 14, which is 414 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 23%. The latest infection rate is 81.81 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 189 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 14, which is 67 fewer cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure decreased by 26%. There was an infection rate of 90.26 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 373 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 14, which is 103 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 108.49 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage decreased by 22% in cases.

West Lancs

There were 100 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 14, which is eight fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 87.34 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage decreased by 7% in cases.

England

In the week ending May 14, England recorded 48,738 coronavirus cases, which is 12,570 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. The week-on-week percentage decreased by 21% in England. There was an infection rate of 86.19 per 100,000 people.
