Another 8,262 Covid cases have been confirmed in Scotland within the last 24 hours as the nation's virus death toll rises again.
Figures have been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.
Nationally, there are 1,514 patients with the disease being treated in hospital which is down 57 from yesterday's reported figure. There are currently 43 people being treated in ICUs.
The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has increased by 271. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 78,268 positive PCR tests in the region and 1,110,186 million across Scotland.
Of the new cases reported, 106 were in East Ayrshire, 83 attributed to North Ayrshire and 82 in South Ayrshire.
According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, East Lothian has the highest rate in the country – at 679.3 as of Wednesday, January 19.
Clackmannanshire has the second-highest infection rate at 643.4 while Falkirk is third with 640.3.
In terms of Ayrshire's thee local authorities, East Ayrshire has the highest rate of 527.1; North Ayrshire's rate stands at 514.7 while South Ayrshire's is 418.2.
A total of 19 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 548.8.

The 27 new deaths mean 10,149 people have passed away since March 2020.
However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 12,675 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, January 16 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.
Across the UK, the figure is 152,872 as of last night and 174,233 with Covid mentioned on the death certificate.
There are 117 patients with the disease being treated in Ayrshire hospitals, down 12 on yesterday, and fewer than five people in ICUs.
Nationally, a total of 4,402,666 people have received one dose of a Covid vaccine; 4,094,680 are double jabbed and 3,230,767 people have received a third dose/booster.
