Covid booster jab walk in vaccination sites in and around Merseyside

There are a number of walk-in centres across Merseyside that are offering the booster vaccination to eligible groups.

This week, the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) confirmed that all adults aged 18 and over are now eligible for booster jabs - a measure taken as concerns grow about the new Omicron variant.

Prior to this, boosters were only available to those aged over 40, the most vulnerable and frontline health and care workers.

The JCVI and the government have also cut the length of time you need to wait between your second jab and your booster from six months to three.

Boris Johnson said he wants everyone to be able to get a booster jab by the end of January.

However, younger people are being told to wait until they are asked to come forward, as other groups continue to be prioritised.

Pharmacy2U, the UK's largest online pharmacy, recently opened up their walk-in services allowing eligible people from the region access to their booster vaccine without having to pre-book.

When attending walk-in centres for the third dose, people are asked to bring their referral letter from a GP or hospital doctor that shows they are eligible - people who fail to bring this with them will be refused the booster at a walk-in site.

Many centres offer walk-in slots for first and second doses, and a few are now offering booster vaccines as well.
