COVID-19 updates: Every state and territory's coronavirus numbers in one place

Here's a quick wrap of what's happening with COVID-19 figures across Australia today, Tuesday March 8.

This will be updated throughout the day as new figures are reported, so if you don't see your state or territory, check back later.

New South Wales

There were five deaths recorded in the 24 hours to 4:00pm yesterday. 

Of the 1,070 COVID patients in hospital, 43 are in intensive care. 

There were 13,018 new cases. 

Victoria

There were six deaths recorded. 

There are 203 COVID-19 cases in hospital. 

Of those, 29 are intensive care with four requiring ventilation. 

There were 7,043 new cases. 

Tasmania

No new deaths were recorded.

There are 14 COVID cases in hospital, but Tasmania's Department of Health says eight are being treated for unrelated medical conditions.

Only six are being treated specifically for COVID symptoms.

There are four COVID cases in intensive care. 

The state has recorded another 1,051 new cases

The ACT

There were no new deaths reported today.

There are 43 people in hospital with the virus, two of those are in intensive care – both requiring ventilation.

There were 658 new cases reported today. 

Last week, 1,324 COVID cases were reported to 127 ACT schools.

Queensland 

There were five COVID deaths in the past 24 hours.

There are 268 cases in hospital, with 20 of those in intensive care. 

The state recorded another 4,397 new cases. 

Northern Territory

A man in his 60s has died with COVID in hospital in the NT, taking the Territory's total death toll from the virus to 30.

Most of today's 437 new cases were detected via rapid antigen tests and 45 COVID patients have been admitted to hospital, with one in ICU.

South Australia

South Australia has recorded 2,089 new cases of COVID-19, but the number of people in hospital with the virus has dropped below 100 for the first time since early January.

There are 97 people in hospital, including 13 people in intensive care. Two are on ventilators.

There are currently 19,030 active COVID cases in SA.

Western Australia

Another 2,847 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the West today, bringing the state's total known active cases above 14,000.

There are 48 people being treated for the virus in hospitals across the state, but no-one requires treatment in intensive care at this stage.
