Ireland has "come through the Omicron2 wave" with hospitalisations dropping below 1,000 today.
Tanaiste Leo Varadkar took to Twitter to share the latest figures although he also warned there will be fresh waves of Covid-19 infection.
The Tanaiste tweeted: "The number of patients in hospital who are #CoVid positive has fallen below 1k today. We have come through the Omicron2 wave without having to re-impose legal restrictions which was important in terms of living with the virus."
"There will be further waves. Please get boosted if you haven’t. Isolate if you have symptoms. Get the fourth vaccine once it’s offered. Consider a mask in crowded places."

The latest figures for hospitalisations due to Covid-19 have dropped below 1,000 for the first time in months.
As of this morning, 933 patients are currently in hospital with Covid-19.
In the last 24 hours, another 73 people who have tested positive for the virus have been admitted to hospital.
96 people who had been positive with Coronavirus have been discharged in the last 24 hours.
ICU numbers have remained relatively stable since the beginning of the Omicron2 wave with 53 currently in intensive care.
