Covid-19 cases Ireland update: Over 8,000 new cases confirmed with 63 in ICU

The Department of Health has today been notified of 4,160 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

In addition, on Monday 14 February, 4,655 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal, giving a combined total of 8,815 cases.

As of 8am today, 635 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of whom 63 are in ICU.

It comes after over 22,000 cases were reported over the weekend.

They have made a huge change as they plan to report Covid-19 case numbers from Monday to Friday only.

Reporting of cases on Monday now include weekend figures.

On Sunday 13 February, 3,609 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal.

On Saturday 12 February, the HPSC was notified of 4,940 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 3,650 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day.

On Sunday 13 February, the HPSC was notified of 4,331 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 2,950 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin said that a meeting to remove more Covid-19 restrictions will be held in the coming weeks.

He said that he believes people should wear face masks after the mandate is removed.
