Gabby McGill insists there is no way Airdrie will give up on the League One title chase after a devastating late blow denied them the win they craved over Cove on Saturday.
The forward was seconds away from being a huge Diamonds hero after his first minute opener put them on course for a victory that would have closed the gap on the leaders to just two points.
However, Fraser Fyvie's stoppage-time screamer earned Cove a 1-1 draw to keep the gap at five points going into the final five games.
It was a sore one for McGill to swallow - particularly after spurning a golden chance later in the first half to make it 2-0 - but he says although they are relying on help from elsewhere, there's no way they'll throw in the towel.
The 21-year-old said: "Over the course of the game we did really well.
"The first 20-30 minutes we really got after them and all the boys felt the same.
"Obviously we got the early goal but at half-time it could have been 2-0, 3-0.
"Looking back, when you miss those chances you miss out on a massive three points.
"I was absolutely buzzing with my goal, it was a great start but then I got the header and that should have gone in.
"When you are playing you forget about it, you get it out of your head because you've got a job to do, but when I came off and I was sitting on the bench and I felt about how the game went, it will definitely stay with me.
"But after the weekend, that goes away.
"These things happen and taking a step back you realise there's five games left and 15 points to play for so you really never know.
"One thing about this team is we don't give up, no way.
"Stranger things have happened and in football anything can happen.
"We just need to make sure we do our business and at this stage we are just looking for a slip-up or two.
"The position we are in we are looking for favours."
McGill pointed to a battling win over Dumbarton at the start of the season as just one example of the Diamonds' fighting spirit and says that will be there in the final five games, kicking off at East Fife next week.
Both Cove and Airdrie are on incredible unbeaten runs with Cove notching up 21 games and Airdrie 15 matches without tasting defeat.
And McGill added: "When you look at this season, we've had moments where we never know we are beat.
"At Dumbarton at the start of the season we conceded in the 91st minute for 2-2 but in the 93rd minute we got the winner.
"That's just how this team is and we will keep going.
"We will probably dwell on the disappointment over the weekend, but you get that out of your head for Monday and it's swiftly on to the next game."
