A big offseason for the Liberty just got even bigger.
Just a day after New York landed superstar Breanna Stewart, the team has now added veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot. The four-time All Star announced her decision to join the Liberty on Thursday with an emoji-filled, third-person tweet.
The announcement comes just one day after Vandersloot revealed she would be leaving the Sky. She had spent her entire 12-year career with Chicago after being selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2011 draft.
Vandersloot, who turns 34 in February, has made the All-Star team in three of the past four seasons. She averaged 11.8 points and 6.5 assists per game last season, shooting 48.1% from the field.
In addition to Stewart and Vandersloot, New York also added star center Jonquel Jones in a blockbuster trade with the Sun on Jan. 16. They’ll join All-Star guard Sabrina Ionescu to form one of the most star-studded teams in the league.
The Liberty put together a promising 2022 season, earning a playoff berth after finishing 16–20 before falling to Chicago in the first round.
