Courteney Cox responds to Prince Harry's memoir claims he took magic mushrooms at her house

Courtney Cox has responded Prince Harry's claims that he took magic mushrooms at a wild Hollywood party at her house once night.

The actress, who recently celebrating getting her Hollywood Walk of Fame star as she was joined by Friends stars Jennifer Anniston and Lisa Kudrow, opened up on his claims. In Prince Harry's highly anticipated memoir, Spare, the Duke revealed he was a huge Friends fan.

Harry is a self-confessed 'Friends fanatic' and took comfort in the hit sitcom while navigating panic attacks after completing his second tour of Afghanistan a decade ago. So a few years later when the Duke of Sussex had the opportunity to attend a party at the Scream actresses' home it was an offer he couldn't refuse.

In Spare, Harry revealed he found ‘a huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates’, and went on to recall his hallucinations. Courteney shed light on the night in question in a new chat with Variety, explaining she had heard of his recollection.

"He did stay here for a couple of days – probably two or three," she said. "He’s a really nice person. I haven’t read the book. I do want to hear it, because I’ve heard it’s really entertaining. But yes, it got back to me about it."

Speaking of the drug allegations, she said: "I'm not saying there were mushrooms! I definitely wasn’t passing them out."

Harry struggled adapting to life after returning back to the UK from war, and wrote: "Day after day, night after night, I sat around eating takeaway, watching 24. Or Friends. I think I might've watched every episode of Friends in 2013. I decided I was a Chandler."

He continued: "People often speculated that I was clinging to my bachelor life because it was so glamorous. Many evenings I'd think: if only they could see me now. Then I'd go back to folding my underwear and watching 'The One with Monica and Chandler's Wedding.'"

"No more occasional dinners with mates. No more house parties. No clubs. Nothing," he wrote. "Every night I'd go straight home from work, eat over the sink, then catch up on paperwork, Friends on low in the background."

Discussing the party at Courteney's house in 2016, he said: "We went from the home of [my friend] Thomas' girlfriend to the home of Courteney Cox. She was a friend of Thomas' girlfriend, and had more room. Also, she was traveling, on a job, and didn't mind if we crashed at her place.

"No complaints from me. As a Friends fanatic, the idea of crashing at Monica's was highly appealing. And amusing. But then… Courteney turned up. I was very confused. Was her job cancelled? I didn't think it was my place to ask. More: Does this mean we have to leave?"

The royal noted he was buzzing after meeting the actor from the "Batman LEGO movie" — alluding to Will Arnett — who indulged his request to do "the voice" to Harry's delight.

"Then, maybe to get rid of us, he led my mate and me to the fridge, from which he extracted a soft drink. While the door was open, we spotted a huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates," he wrote.

"Somebody behind me said they were for everybody. Help yourself, boys. My mate and I grabbed several, gobbled them, washed them down with tequila."
