Courtland Sutton says Broncos still believe after 2-5 start

Despite starting the 2023 season with a 2-5 record, Denver Broncos players have not lost faith.

Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton says the team is still confident that they can turn their season around and get back on track.

“I think it speaks testament to this locker room and to the guys that we have in this locker room,” Sutton said after last week’s win over the Green Bay Packers. “I know we all have guys that believe really heavily and what we’re capable of doing, on the offensive side of the ball, defensive side of the ball. Crossing that, we knew that the defensive guys believe in us and we believe in the defense. …Everybody just believing in each other and understanding that it’s a long season.

“Before this, we had 11 games left and everybody wanted to write us off and nobody believes us. [Sunday was] a lot closer than it should be, but a lot of people don’t believe us and at the end of the day, it’s all about the character and the hardiness in this locker room. I believe in these guys. We all believe in each other and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.”

After beating the 2-4 Packers last week, the Broncos are now set to host the 6-1 Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. Sutton said the team wants last week’s win to be the start of a positive run.

“We want it to be the momentum to roll this over to next week,” Sutton said. “We get to go see the Chiefs again, one week removed from playing them boys in a tough game on Thursday night. So trying to use this momentum to roll into this weekend. Go take care of business and get the ball rolling in the division games.”

Denver has lost its last 16 games against Kansas City, an embarrassing streak that the team will attempt to end on Sunday.
