'Courageous, kind' graduate named as 23-year-old woman found with fatal head injuries in Battersea

A 23-year-old woman who died after being found with head injuries in a south London street has been named as Carolina Ramirez Jimenez.

Loved ones have paid tribute to the University of Greenwich graduate, describing her as “a courageous, kind, smart, loving” young woman.

She was discovered lying injured in Silverthorne Road, Battersea, around 2.30am on August 1.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and she was taken to hospital, but she died of her injuries hours later.

The Met police is still investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Ms Ramirez Jimenez was born in Gran Canaria but had lived in London for more than 13 years, frequently returning to her native island to visit family.

“Carolina was an extraordinary young woman, to say the least,” her close friend Tamara Pablo said in a Gofundme page.

“She was a courageous, kind, smart, loving outgoing young woman. She always had a huge smile on her face and thoroughly enjoyed making others laugh and feel welcomed; her happiness was endearing.

“She had committed her life to her family and friends with whom she created lovely memories.”

She said Ms Ramirez Jimenez, who loved travelling, “had many future career aspirations ahead of her”.

She attended the Harris Academy in Merton, and went on to study at the University of Greenwich, while working a number of jobs in hospitality and retail.

In June, she graduated from the same university with a masters in finance and investment.

“Carolina was always there for us, offering a helping hand, a listening ear, and a caring heart,” wrote Ms Pablo. She described her friend as being “loved and cherished dearly”.

Ms Pablo has launched a Gofundme to raise money for Ms Ramirez Jimenez’s grieving family, to help them celebrate her life and “ease the financial burden that comes with such a sudden and devastating loss”.
