Couple who won £3m seaside mansion selling it weeks later as area is 'too posh'

A couple who won a beautiful £3million mansion after buying a £25 lottery ticket are now flogging it for a whopping £4million - as they feel the seaside community is 'too posh' for them.

The stunning home has panoramic views of the Camel Estuary in Padstow, Cornwall, has a massive 5.3 acres of land, and even boasts famous neighbours lining the streets - including Gordon Ramsay.

However, just eight weeks after winning the eco-mansion, Uttam Parmar, 58, from Leicestershire, has put it on the market on October 8 - with the hope of pocketing a profit of £3,999,975 from the sale.

The competition was the ninth run by Omaze, whose Million Pound House Draw has raised £6.75million for good causes (Omaze / SWNS)

Luckily for Mr Parmar and his wife, Raki, 53, the huge prize included £50,000 for the family to help them settle in. The home is also mortgage-free, and stamp duty and legal fees already covered.

But despite winning the abode on August 12, in the Omaze Million Pound House Draw which was held in July, the pair are already cashing in.

While the couple have previously holidayed in Cornwall and always spoke of their dream of having a place there, and now they do they are 'pinching themselves' - reality and the cost of living has hit hard.

The Parmar's have now revealed they are returning to their home in Leicestershire, saying they just didn't fit in to their new surroundings, nor did they fancy the upkeep costs, report the Daily Mail.

The couple, who won the grand prize with their son, say the move is not quite for them.

They went on to say that they are quite content with their red-brick detached home and wish to stay in the quiet Appleby Magna, Leicestershire.

And while Mr Parmar admitted that it is a 'fantastic house in a beautiful location', he told the MailOnline that: "We don't feel like we fit in on the Cornish coast with lots of wealthy people there.

"It's not us. We have lived in Leicester for a long time and we are perfectly happy here. We don't need a £4million holiday home."

The winner, who entered every previous competition and fell short the eight previous times, added that he is a "normal guy", and so living in a celebrity neighbourhood would be completely out of his league as he would feel "out of depth".

Before going on to make the decision of selling the property, he says the family spent time 'chilling out' at the house, before coming to the conclusion that they should give it up.

One of the reasons behind this was the fact that the cost of upkeep was too much for the couple. Instead, the Parmar's have said they will be looking into buying some land or smaller property with the money instead.

The operations manager, who has worked for electronic component firm Alps Alpine for 18 years, said that he is not even willing to keep it as a holiday home due to the extortionate costs of maintaining it.

Mr and Mrs Parmar are now dealing with an agent, who they say is sorting out the all the paperwork for them.

However, the selling price of £4million is not guaranteed, as Mr Parmar said: "I hope it sells for £4million but let's see."

The Cornish eco-mansion was built with 'no expense spared'. It is insulated with recycled newspaper, and has a 'green roof' - which is covered in grasses, moss and flowers. These help the wildlife in the area thrive, and improve the air quality.

And the property, which boasts four-bedrooms, is just a short distance from Rock Beach and the village, where celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay lives with his family in his £4.4million mansion.

The home is now being advertised on RightMove, and has been described as: "An award-winning architectural masterpiece due to its extremely economical standard".

Local estate agents estimate that the spacious 4,200 square-foot house could fetch up to £15,000 a month in rent during peak season, if the Parmar family changed their mind about selling it.

The Omaze Million Pound House Draw raised money for Blood Cancer UK, which is a charity dedicated to funding research into cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

The company's ninth competition raised a staggering £6.75million for good causes.
