Couple spot 'Winston Churchill' flashing Queen peace sign from the sky during Jubilee

A couple believe they spotted former Prime Minister Winston Churchill flashing a 'victory' sign to Queen Elizabeth II in cloud form.

The pair spotted what the cloud formation of a 'perfect' peace sign while out hiking last week, at the very same time Her Majesty was celebrating her historic 70-year reign.

Søren Hauge says he spotted a clear outline of a hand, complete with an index and middle finger positioned in a 'v' shape.

To his eyes, the formation looked just like Churchill's most famous salute, often made before cameras in the days of World War II.

With the iconic statesman having served as Queen Elizabeth's very first Prime Minister, Søren says it was as if he was "sending a little sign from the sky."

Søren snapped the pics at a nature reserve in Kullaberg, Sweden, with the apparition disappearing mere minutes after he captured it.

He'd asked his partner Hanne Andreasen, 55, to pose in front of it for the shoot, making a peace sign of her own.

After sharing the photos on social media, Søren managed to clock up more than 2,000 likes.

Søren, from Copenhagen, Denmark, said: "One of the most famous people in the world who did the peace sign was Winston Churchill.

"Winston Churchill was a very multi-faceted person. He was thinking a lot and he also stepped up when he was needed. This cloud formation is quite timely as he was Queen Elizabeth II's first prime minister and it's her Platinum Jubilee.

"It's a nice nod to that and like he's sending a little sign from the sky."

The spiritual teacher, coach, and author also believes this to be a sign of "heavenly support for peace in Europe", particularly in regards to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

He continued: "These days we need a 'heavenly support' for peace in Europe and especially in Ukraine, so the opportunity was a gift and also a delightful picture in itself.

"As I took the pictures I heard an English guy behind us say to his children 'look up, that's a peace sign' and I believe they started shooting as well, imitating us, before the formation started to dissolve.

"Later I put the images on Facebook as I found it to be uplifting and very rare as well. It's an upward-moving form of the cumulus cloud is known as a cumulus congestus, but a rather unusual one as it is so thin and with the peculiar double shape.

"To me, it first and foremost resembles a peace sign although I know some of the members of the Facebook group call it a bunny symbol."
