Forklift driver quits to become director of his partner's company that has gone 'crazy'

A couple from Bury have spoken about the success of their viral beauty company that has paid for their dream wedding. Olivia Taylor and Byron Entwistle are the brains behind the popular skin care and make-up brand called Pink Honey UK.

The online cosmetics store gained popularity thanks to it’s Honey Glue Original Super Hold created by 23-year-old make-up artist Olivia. The product has proved a massive hit on the app with millions of views which has led to thousands flocking to their page to buy their products.

Olivia created the eyebrow glue back in 2019 after noticing a gap in the market. A makeup artist at the time, Olivia’s decision to use honey and the design of the jam jar it comes in meant that her idea became a ‘million dollar’ one for her company.

“I kind of made it up to be honest,” said Olivia when asked about how she came up with the product. “Brow lamination was just starting to become a thing but there was a lot of controversy around the chemicals used to create the effects. A lot of my customers were coming in for that and there was nothing holding coarse hairs or thicker hairs.

“With ours it comes in a jar with a hole in the centre and it’s the hole that is the million dollar idea for us because when you put the brush in the middle and swirl it, you get an even distribution of product so it’s a lot faster and you get better performance.”

When Olivia started her business, Byron 27, was working nights as a forklift driver. He eventually quit his job to become the director of Pink Honey UK after they began constantly selling out of the product.

Byron said: “It seems like it was over a long period of time but a short period of time also. It was crazy, it started just before lockdown but then it started picking up pace which we did see with a lot of brands because everyone was at home and started TikTok."

The company was initially successful on Instagram but it wasn’t until they created a TikTok account that they starting seeing a massive growth.

“When TikTok shop was introduced that was our biggest growth spurt on there because of the way it works and how easy it is to buy something in one click. It gave us all the tools we needed to be successful." Olivia explained.

“When TikTok first came about everybody was a little bit naïve," continued Byron, "We didn’t really see the potential at first, but when everything first started adding up we were like, ‘right we need to get on to this.’”

The company has been so successful that the pair were able make their 'dream day come true' by flying out family and friends for their wedding in Thailand.

“With TikTok we’ve never had to run ads on there. You just put your post on and link your product and if that product goes viral you can earn a ridiculous amount of money, it’s crazy," said Byron.

“We got married like a couple of weeks ago, we got married in Thailand and we had the wedding that we could never have dreamed of due to Pink Honey. That literally made our dream day come true.

“We were able to get all the family out to Thailand, have a wedding over there and a little honeymoon. It’s been good, it’s been amazing.”
