Couple create Harry Potter paradise in house that is for sale

A couple have created a Harry Potter paradise in their townhouse. The three-storey house has a living room, family bathroom, four bedrooms and an en-suite - but it's the ground floor toilet that's the star of the show.

Over an eight month period over lockdown, couple Laura and Dan transformed their downstairs loo into a Harry Potter paradise. The lavatory is kitted out with the Marauder's Map on three walls, Snitch-inspired golden paint, and a stained glass effect on the window, along with a ceiling of blue sky with white clouds painted by Dan.

Laura says she remembered the hype surrounding the first book when she was selling it as a 16-year-old working in Kwik Save. While Dan first encountered the series when his private school took students to the cinema, reports the Echo.

He said: "I grew up with it in the sense that I was somewhat the same age as the characters, and as we've got older, they've got older."

Now the "very homely home" they've lived in for more than eight years is on sale for £270,000, they hope other Potter fans will take it into their hands. But they believe anyone can enjoy it. Laura said: "Some people say, 'Yeah, we've watched Harry Potter, but we're not fans', but the amount of times they've gone in to use the bathroom and the next minute, you can hear the music box going."

She added: "It's a conversation starter, and you can't take away from the fact that it is very different, it's very vibrant, and it's been done to a very high standard."

The Rosswood Road property in Ellesmere Port also comes with an integral garage, two parking spaces, and a landscaped rear garden that provides "the most romantic and tranquil oasis". Real estate agents Tate Rowlands said: "The property is in the perfect location with easy access to the M53 motorway and being close to the many local amenities, such as local pubs, shops and the popular Cheshire Oaks designer outlet. There are also a range of excellent primary and secondary schools within the property catchment."
