Couple capture ultimate romantic shots at magical fairytale-like pink lake

A lucky couple has managed to capture the ultimate romantic shots at a beautiful pink lake that looks like something from a fairytale.

Although the images look like something created on Photoshop, this stunning bright pink lake in Yallabatharra, Western Australia, is totally natural.

Adventurous couple Charlotte and James Maddock enchanted their followers with their awe-inspiring romantic photographs and drone footage from the picturesque spot.

The strikingly rosy body of water, known as Hutt Lagoon, has a high salt concentration, paired with a special type of algae and bacteria, which produce the magical pink hue.

Blogger Charlotte, who is originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, but now lives in Perth, Western Australia, said: “We have visited Pink Lake so many times over the years and we never get sick of seeing it.

"No two visits are ever the same.

“When it’s cloudy and still, you have the chance of capturing the clouds reflecting in the pink waters. This is our favourite time to visit.

“When the lake has dried up a little you can get some incredible patterns in the sand and when it’s bright and sunny the pink is unbelievably vibrant."

The 30-year-old added: “We feel inspired whenever we visit Pink Lake.

"It’s sort of unworldly, like a crazy, fun, landscape I would have dreamed up as a wee girl.

“It encourages you to be creative and try new things, while at the same time, is incredibly humbling and inspiring.

“It is big, overwhelming, and powerful, it can’t help but make you consider your perspective on life.

“When I was hospitalised earlier in the year, I dreamed of getting a shot like this, of going to Pink Lake and just floating.

“Being in an endless sea of pink and just soaking it all in.

"To not only be able to get there and experience something that truly felt like such a faraway dream.

“But to be able to capture it in a way that we are so proud of, for us, that’s what photography is all about.”

The dreamlike photographs and drone footage was snapped last year on a visit to the area.

It has since attracted plenty of interest from curious followers on the couple’s Instagram.

James added: “We truly are so lucky with our online community.

"They are constantly blowing us away with their endless support and kind words.

“I think our favourite reactions were 'is it real!?'

"'I just said WOW out loud” and "what a place, I thought it was a trick at first!".

"You really do need to see it to believe it.

“If you’re looking to visit Pink Lake yourself, we highly recommend visiting on a calm and cloudy day.

“Pack yourself a picnic and give yourself lots of time to explore and take it all in.”
